Research structural MRI query system
With NACC's Research Structural MRI Query System, you can find the number of structural MRIs that are available on UDS subjects, filtering your search by MRI image type and by a number of criteria within the Uniform Data Set, the Neuropathology Data Set, and the FTLD Module. These data can help you determine quickly whether NACC is likely to have the images you're looking for in numbers sufficient to address your research question. After you run your query following the four steps outlined below, a sample of image files meeting your criteria will be available immediately for download.
Viewing your download
Visualization software is required to view DICOM MRIs. Many software packages are available on the web as freeware or free trials and can be located by doing a web search for "DICOM viewer."
Using your query results
Your query results will give you some rough preliminary numbers of available images and some sample images to view; however, they are not suitable for data analysis or publication. When you are ready to download images for analysis and publication purposes, a more detailed data request is required.
How to run a query: four steps
There are four steps to running an MRI query: choose the type of MRI you want by using the image acquisition criteria below; choose the subjects you want to include; choose the type of output you want (web or PDF); and finally, read and acknowledge NACC's confidentiality agreement.
Step 1: Select the MRI inclusion criteria:
OPTION A — Use a subset of MRI types: In the columns below, choose one to three criteria, specifying the relationship between them as “AND” or “OR” (choose “N/A” if you don’t want to apply any criterion for a particular column).
OPTION B — Use all MRIs: If you don’t want to focus on a specific type of MRI, click "Next" to go directly to Step 2; in this case, your query will include all available MRIs with any of the UDS criteria you apply in Step 2.
